Supreme Tamer

Chapter 518: 390: Dark Night, Action (Part 2)

As the setting sun took on a golden hue and gradually sank into the horizon, the entire World Throne appeared even more majestic and sacred. It was as if one was looking at a supreme kingdom crafted out of pure gold. Even stepping on that piece of land evoked a sense of inexplicable inner turmoil.

Before the setting sun disappeared, Chu Mu stood there alone, quietly admiring the supreme hall of glory.

“Fox Elder, if my father hadn’t gone through that, could he have ascended to this throne?” Chu Mu asked casually.

“Let me put it this way. Back then, as one of the Five Peaks, Chu Tianmang’s strength was slightly greater than that of Her Highness the Venerate, but not necessarily stronger. It was just that Chu Tianmang’s battle control ability was much stronger than Her Highness’s. Hence, the Venerate was usually no match for him. If Chu Tianmang had continued on his previous path, I think there would still be hope for him to reach this throne, or at least, a statue of him on the staircase,” Fox Elder said.

“So, he still comes up somewhat short of true supremacy?” Chu Mu inquired.

“Yes and no, the matter is a bit complicated,” Fox Elder explained.

Chu Mu aimed to become stronger like his father, but even without Chu Tianmang, Chu Mu was determined to become a Soul Pet Master with the highest glory, commanding the most powerful soul pets in this world. He would be admired by countless people and challenge numerous mighty creatures.

Chu Mu wasn’t trying to follow his father’s footsteps, but to become an even stronger person. If Chu Tianmang couldn’t reach the Supreme Throne’s level, then this World Throne would be the ultimate goal of his struggle!

As the setting sun set, night fell on World City.

Four figures mounted on their respective Demon Spirit Soul Pets raced down the streets. After meeting at Moon Bridge, Chu Mu and the other three headed straight in the direction that Jiang Zhi had moved.

Jiang Zhi’s speed wasn’t very fast, so the four had no trouble catching up with him.

“This direction seems to be leading to a more remote city area,” Shang Heng observed as he looked at the increasingly ordinary houses.

“Whoever they’re looking for is probably there. There’s no point in overthinking it — we just need to deal with them,” said Zhan Hong, the youngest Level Eight Soul Official, with an air of confidence.

Gradually, the four’s pursuit led them away from the bustling Central City area and into a residential area with modest houses.

“Shang Heng, do any descriptions confirm the identity of that hidden power’s descendant?” Chu Mu asked.

“That hidden power was a very famous Spirit Master in our soul pet world and had actually reached the peak of the Spirit Master realm. This Spirit Master has long been opposed to joining any major power. Initially, due to his strength and ability, various forces couched their words and did not dare to offend this expert. Later on, this power got heavily injured in the outside world, and his strength was largely diminished. However, the spirit items he refined remained highly sought-after by the various forces. At this point, this reclusive powerhouse was at the mercy of the major powers, forcibly co-opted by them…” Shang Heng said.

“In fact, all the top-level powers are well aware of his work. This Spirit Master holds a unique concoction of spirit items that he learned from a distant kingdom. This made him the soul pet world’s one and only holder of this concoction. In order to fight for ownership of this item, the various powers had already engaged in a fairly significant battle once…”

Chu Mu thought about it, secretly wondering what kind of spirit item could be so important that it prompted these forces to engage in such fierce battles.

“The Spirit Master’s current whereabouts are unknown, and the only person who knows how to concoct this item is the one who inherited his mantle. That’s why he is very important. What I know is not much, and this matter has always been kept a secret. None of the powers are willing to let out even the slightest bit of information,” Shang Heng continued.

Chu Mu nodded and began to ask Fox Elder, “Fox Elder, do you know anything about this?”

Having lived for so many years, Fox Elder had no reason not to know about a battle involving various major powers.

“If it’s a Spirit Master who controls a certain kind of unique spirit items, I think it should be Undying Immortal Ying Rong,” Fox Elder said.

“Undying Immortal?” Chu Mu heard the title for the first time. It was strange but seemed to belong to a remarkable figure.

“Yeah, Undying Immortal, that’s his title. As long as a soul pet’s soul hasn’t been pulverized, Undying Immortal Ying Rong can revive it and completely restore the soul pet to its peak condition within a month. In the past, Ying Rong had always kept a low profile, only joining the Spirit Sect and holding a not-so-high position within it. Only a certain circle of strong ones truly knew of his existence and capabilities. Later on, after he mastered the concoction of a certain spirit item, he was betrayed by some calculating individuals, and major powers became aware of his existence, desperately trying to rope him in…” Fox Elder narrated.

“What exactly is the spirit item that has got these powers so agitated?” Chu Mu asked.

“I’m not sure. The matter of Undying Immortal Ying Rong has always been a secret, and very few people know of it. I’m also surprised why Lord Yu suddenly became involved in this matter,” Fox Elder replied.

Chu Mu fell into deep thought, as for some reason, he suddenly thought of something when Master Li and Shang Heng mentioned this matter.

“This is East Street. Why did they specifically run here? Could the descendants of that hidden power actually live in such a place?” Zhan Hong glanced at the unremarkable neighborhood and showed a bit of confusion.

Compared to the World Throne and Central City Plaza area, the East Street District of Central City was obviously much more ordinary. Real powerhouses wouldn’t usually come here, as there were no attractive resources. The only inhabitants in World City were commoners.

“It’s been some time since they’ve left.” Zhao Cheng said in a low voice.

“Indeed, Jiang Zhi has been running for a while now.” Shang Heng nodded.

Jiang Zhi had been running for a long time, and everyone started to wonder why Shen Yicheng had chosen such a remote place for their meeting. Was it simply to avoid attracting attention? Such cautiousness was a bit excessive.

“You’re the team leader, don’t you have any opinions?” Zhan Hong glanced at Chu Mu and asked with a cold tone.

“Head to West Street.” Suddenly, the Night Thunder Dream Beast Chu Mu was riding made an arc in the sky, directly heading in the opposite direction.

The trio was immediately confused, not understanding why Chu Mu suddenly gave up chasing Jiang Zhi and went towards West Street instead.

“Chu Chen, what’s going on? Why did you suddenly change our course?” Shang Heng was the first to react and hurriedly followed Chu Mu on his Winged Rank Tiger.

“I think we might have been found out by Shen Yicheng. Jiang Zhi might be a discarded pawn, leading us in circles within the city,” Chu Mu said.

“Why do you think so? I was extremely careful when I had someone investigate the case and follow Jiang Zhi. It shouldn’t have been detected by Shen Yicheng,” Shang Heng said.

“My intuition tells me that the person they’re looking for should be in West Street. We’re currently going in the complete opposite direction,” Chu Mu said.

“Intuition? You use your intuition like a woman when executing a mission? What if your intuition is wrong? Wouldn’t we let Jiang Zhi escape!” Zhan Hong’s tone immediately changed,

Chu Mu turned his head, his black eyes gazing indifferently at Zhan Hong, and said coldly, “That’s my decision. If you don’t want to follow, you can leave the team now. If you want to follow, then shut up.”

Chu Mu had disliked Zhan Hong’s attitude for a while. At first, he thought it was just a one-time collaboration, so he didn’t bother arguing with the guy. However, Zhan Hong was now challenging his authority by mocking him, clearly not wanting to listen to Chu Mu’s command.

If there was someone in the team acting selfishly, Chu Mu would rather exclude them. A united team with a singular vision and purpose was far more powerful than a team with internal discord.

Chu Mu’s words stunned Zhan Hong, who didn’t speak for a few seconds, his angry and proud eyes staring at Chu Mu, seemingly ready to explode.

“Who do you think you are? Everyone else here is stronger than you. What qualifications do you have to give orders!” Zhan Hong exclaimed.

Shang Heng sensed that the situation was getting out of hand and hurriedly stopped Zhan Hong’s anger, saying, “How about this, Zhan Hong, you continue to follow Jiang Zhi, I will send others to support you, and the three of us will go to West Street to check it out. This way, we’ll be safer.”

“Hmph!” Zhan Hong slapped his soul pet, changing course, and chased after Jiang Zhi without further arguing with Chu Mu.

Shang Heng sighed, looked at the departing Jiang Zhi, and only spoke to Chu Mu after some time, “I know he’s discontent with you, but there’s no need to drive him away like that.”

“I’ve already given him a choice,” Chu Mu replied.

Chu Mu was autocratic, but since Lord Yu had left the matter to him, Chu Mu didn’t care about his autocracy.

“But we’re still short of one person…sigh, nevermind, I will explain to him. You still haven’t told us why you’re going to West Street,” Shang Heng asked.

“I can’t explain it, just go,” Chu Mu relied certainly on his intuition.

Chu Mu’s intuition told him that this matter might be related to someone he knew well, someone who had unintentionally given him a unique spirit item to consume in this world! (.)
