Chapter 290 - Conundrum

The egg of the wolf king and the golden key were both money makers for him, and as a store owner in the real world, how could he not take advantage of every factor and earn as much as possible.

While the fawning smile the army chief had been carrying disappeared after Aakesh left. He had agreed with the adventurer to inform every citizen of the town about the auction, but he didn\'t want to do it at all.

The egg of the wolf king would be sold to someone who would bid the maximum, but that was not the case for the golden key. Even ordinary citizens could own the key if they passed the unknown test set by the adventurer.

The army chief believed that it was Aakesh who had set the test for the citizens. He didn\'t know about the pattern of the auction, but he was sure about one thing, the more the number of participants, the tougher the competition would be for the golden key.

"What are you waiting for? You all have already heard it. Go and announce it to the entire town," The army chief ordered the guards, who had heard the conversation between him and the adventurer.

"Yes, chief!"

The guards responded and left in different directions. There were only a few of them, so if they were to announce it to the entire town, it would take more than a day. Considering this, the army chief ordered all the soldiers to stop guarding the central area and instead be an announcer for the day. And there was also no point in guarding the central area when a new Townhead would appear today.

After leaving the central area, Aakesh left in the direction of the wolf\'s camp. He came across several scenes caused by him yesterday.

He didn\'t even take a glance at the corpses and continued his journey.

Time flew by.

Finally, after traveling for around an hour, Aakesh reached the place where he had put the egg of the wolf king.

The cubs and young wolves who had become orphans yesterday were playing when they heard the sound of footsteps. Those wolves who had intelligence howled to welcome him, and those who still hadn\'t gained intelligence continued their playtime.

Aakesh ignored the welcome of the wolves but instead focused on Lily.

Lily, who couldn\'t even cover his complete palm, was sitting like a king in the center on a seat several times the size of her.

She was sitting on the tip of the chair with the lower pair of legs flailing; the right upper leg acted as hand and carried her chin, and the left upper leg tapped on the chair with a pondering expression on her face. The size difference between her and the seat made the scene look no less than comical.

Aakesh couldn\'t help but smile, seeing the posture of Lily. If anyone were to look at her, they would think that the king was pondering over something.

Lily hadn\'t even noticed that Aakesh had arrived or was looking at her, so he didn\'t disturb her. Instead, he waited for her to come around.

Time flew by, and several seconds passed. Aakesh stood there looking at Lily, who still didn\'t seem to come around.

He couldn\'t know what she was thinking, but seeing the expressions changing on her face he could guess.

There were more than a thousand young wolves and cubs in the area, and for Lily to improve, she couldn\'t take care of all of them for now. She would need to choose some of the wolves who would accompany her on her journey.

Lily, unlike Aakesh, cared for the life of the cubs, so she was thinking about the safety of the cubs after she went to other areas. If there were no one to protect them, the cubs would either become pets of the citizens of the town, or they would get hunted by the other creatures living in the forest.

The wolf king didn\'t have a good relationship with other creatures. It ruled the forest with an iron hand.

Aakesh didn\'t want to interfere with Lily\'s decision, so even when she asked him about this conundrum, he didn\'t answer her. He wanted the best for Lily, as for the life of others, he didn\'t care much, so he was the last person to solve this conundrum of Lily.

Finally, after a few more minutes passed, Lily came around. The first thing she did was heave a disappointed sigh since she still hadn\'t got an answer. She then looked around her and noticed Aakesh looking at her.

She got back on her four legs as she jumped down the seat and went to Aakesh. Aakesh bent down his knee in response as Lily climbed on his head.

The relationship between Aakesh and Lily was bigger than anything, so Lily never hid anything from him, no matter how big of a thing it was.

"I can\'t leave them here," Lily said with a disappointed sigh.

Even though the reason she met the wolf king was that it had an ulterior motive, the cubs and young wolves she played with had no ulterior motive when they played with her.

Since it was the second group of people after Aakesh whom she had come in close contact with, she had become emotionally attached to them.

"Fine, I will help you protect them," Aakesh responded as he ruffled the fur of Lily, sitting on his head.

Aakesh had no interest in saving the life of these cubs, but he couldn\'t let these cubs stop Lily from advancing. He would\'ve directly killed them, but he didn\'t want Lily to feel sad.

"Take five of them, and leave the others. I would create a protected sanctuary for them here," Aakesh added as he pointed at two cubs and three young wolves.

The five Aakesh had pointed had the greatest amount of golden lines out of all the other cubs and young wolves. He wanted these five to bring some good luck to Lily as according to the skill Fortune-Eye, she had the most number of golden lines, but similarly, the number of black lines and red lines was also large.

Time flew by.

Aakesh was currently on his way back to the town with a giant egg in his hands.
