Chapter 621: Pretty Boy on the Way (Part Two)
He looked extremely charming to even Lu, who did not know much about beauty.
People tended to like beautiful things and Lu who had a slow sense in all these things, was not an exception. She always thought that Jing Yiran was very pretty and that always attracted her and also, made her slightly obsessed.
After all, she was pulled to him in the beginning because of his good looks.
Jing Yiran barely cooked. He had no interest in it and Lu also thought that cooking was an annoying thing. But she had a huge appetite, and would need to cook a lot every time she needed to eat something. Since that involved a lot of effort, most of the time, they got food delivered to them.
But seeing Jing Yiran cook for her, Lu was glad. She found that Jing Yiran was much better looking right now than at any other time.
Seeing Lu’s sparkling eyes on him, Jing Yiran raised his eyebrows and asked seriously. “What is it? Thinking that I look great today?”
Lu was a bit startled. She didn’t realise that Jing Yiran was teasing her and asked in a serious voice. “How did you know what I am thinking?”
Jing Yiran could not help but chuckle. He stretched out his long finger and rubbed it against Lu’s nose tip. He used an indulgent tone, even surprising his own self and said, “Your eyes have told me everything. But I have always been good-looking. Apart from Jing Yichen’s cold looks, I have never seen anyone better looking than me. Of course, even Jing Yichen is worse than me in terms of attraction, so it is not a strange thing that you think so.”
Lu blinked her eyes when she realized something. “Oh, you are joking.”
Then, she frowned slightly. “But what is funny about this?”
Jing Yiran shook his head. Joking with Lu was not going to work. Something was missing in her head and she could not understand things which were normal for others.
Seeing Lu’s jade-like baby face, he let out a sigh. He was indeed burdened. It was not a good omen that their communication had met barriers. But he considered himself smart and social, and was sure that he would be able to teach Lu well!
Seeing him speechless, Lu could not help but say. “Did I say anything wrong? I did think that you are good-looking.”
Lu had never used ‘good-looking’ to describe him. She always said that Jing Yiran was ‘pretty’ because that word suited him the most.
But Jing Yiran had protested many times, forcing Lu to use ‘good-looking’ to describe his charm.
Hearing Lu’s sincere words, Jing Yiran was very glad.
He lowered his head and kissed on Lu’s forehead. “Go and wait in the living room, baby, I am going to bring the good food to you.”
Normally, whenever Jing Yiran said the word ‘baby’, Lu would turn obedient and docile. She could not resist when it was spoken by Jing Yiran to her.
She had no idea why she had become like this. But she felt that whenever Jing Yiran said this word, she was surrounded by happiness.
Or maybe, it was a kind of affection she had barely experienced in her life, and would turn very docile whenever she felt such happiness coming to her.
However, she did not obey him this time, because she did not want this moment to end.
She found herself getting more and more clingy towards Jing Yiran, even when they did not do anything together. As long as she could see him and feel him, she would be assured.
Seeing that his calling her ‘baby’ did not work this time, Jing Yiran thought that Lu was still thinking about what had just happened and turned a bit unhappy.
He turned down the flame on the stove, and sprinkled one spoonful of salt on the lid under which the soup was boiling. Then he turned around and picked Lu up, walking out of the kitchen.
Lu did not struggle but let herself be at his mercy.
Jing Yiran seemed to like holding her and he often did this kind of gesture these days as if she were too weak to walk by herself.
The music was still on in the living room and the sunshine streamed in through the window. It was bright and warm here and the air was pleasant.
Jing Yiran sat down on the sofa and placed Lu on his legs, wrapping her inside his arms.
He pinched Lu’s exquisite chin, and asked in a low voice. “Unhappy?”
Lu did not know why he asked her that, so she answered in surprise, “No, why unhappy? I am very happy.”
Seeing Lu’s crystal-clear eyes, Jing Yiran knew that he had overthought the situation. She was not unhappy.
If she was, she would have told him so. She did not know how to hide her emotions and did not know how to play tricks, either.
He had been with enough coy women before, and was not used to Lu’s straightforward personality.
Seeing his little girl happy, Jing Yiran kissed her tender face and blew air in her ear, “Then why did you not come out when I asked you to wait for me here?”
“What?” Lu got a bit baffled by his kiss and said after a moment, “I just wanted to stay with you a bit longer, that is why.”
Jing Yiran was obviously pleased by this answer.
“Oh really? I misunderstood you, sorry for that. Then let me tell you that I like spending time with you a lot and I asked you to leave the kitchen just now because I did not want you to be choked by the oily air in the kitchen. It was not because I wanted you to go away from me.”
He smiled brightly and his eyes were filled with gentleness and warmth. He had never expected that one day his heart would beat so fast just because he had said that he would like to spend more time with someone.
He had never held such a strong affectionate feeling towards Lu, and he was not even that eager to touch her as he had wanted to touch Shangguan Ning.
But he had never been so patient and as gentle towards Shangguan Ning as he was towards Lu, and he was never going to be so tolerant and forgiving towards any other woman as well, not even towards his deceased mother Zhang Rong.
Sometimes, Jing Yiran thought that this sort of affection could be counted as love too. He was growing closer and closer to Lu. They barely kissed, but their love had grown.
He could sense that Lu felt the same towards him, although she may not have figured it out yet.
