Chapter 511: Bloodbath
Chapter 511: Bloodbath
There was no change in her expressions as if she were just stating something minor. “I will kill you the moment you get the money. I have been trained very well and as one of the best killers in the world, killing you is as easy as squatting a fly!”
It was a fact, but she did not have to put it out so bluntly.
Jing Yiran was well aware of his own situation. He was not a match against Lu and he would not betray Lu, either.
“You can trust me. I may not be a nice man and sometimes I can be very mean. But I know how to be grateful. Your death will do me no good, so I will not betray you, instead I’ll protect you.”
Lu was not moved by what Jing Yiran said.
In this world, a man’s word was always promising, and also unreliable.
The reason why she did not try to conceal her identity in front of Jing Yiran was only because she did not treat Jing Yiran as a threat. It had never been because of anything related to trust or emotions.
“So you told Jing Zhongxiu and Jing Yichen about your identity because you trust them?” Jing Yiran was not convinced. He felt that he was more reliable than either of them.
“Of course not!” Lu denied calmly. “Jing Zhongxiu was one of the reasons why I became a killer. I stayed With Family Jing because I owe them a lot.”
Jing Yiran got startled. “Could it have been Jing Zhongxiu who turned you into a killer? Why do you owe him anything?! Do you enjoy being a killer?”
“Jing Zhongxiu has nothing to do with me being a killer. I owe him for something else. I chose to become a killer and no one else affected my decision. And, I have never regretted choosing this path.”
Only killing could make her feel normal.
Only the scent of blood could make her stay rational.
She had been avoiding her past for really long now. Only by constantly killing people would she be able to console her soul.
It gave her strength and kept her rational. Without the stimulation of blood, she would turn into an innocent fourteen year old child.
She was only able to find her true self through killing, and had a sharp instinct when it came to danger.
When she was going through the training in the organization of killers, she was normal all the time and the innocent Lu had never surfaced at that time.
Killing was definitely the most suitable profession for her!
Jing Yiran stared at this calm and determined woman and suddenly felt that he had been living a much happier life compared to her.
He had no idea what hardships had Lu faced that she became so devoted to killing and developed a split personality.
Obviously, she had no family.
If the rumor was true, then Lu’s parents had really been killed by her.
Jing Yiran knew Lu well. She might be a killer, but she did not kill people randomly. She only killed her target and would not care if there was anyone else who was evil.
Jing Yiran felt that maybe her current condition was related to her parents’ death.
But it was her deepest and most painful secret, hence Jing Yiran did not probe any further.
Instead, he asked her with a soft voice, “What is your real name?”
Without looking at him, Lu raised her head and looked out of the window. She said calmly, “Oh, yes, what is my real name? It has been too long for me to remember it. Lu is good, and Shangguan Lu sounds nice too, clean and pretty, fitting her well.”
Jing Yiran knew that the “her” Lu referred to was the other version in her body.
For some reason, he was upset.
At first, he had thought that the world was treating him unfairly. He had been born to be detested since his birth, and he did not have any choice.
If it were possible, he would rather not have been born.
He was the unwanted one in the Jing Family!
Jing Yichen, the perfect heir of the Jing Family, was the only one who was needed.
Most of the time, Jing Yiran hated Mo Lan for having given him the right to be born. If it had not been for her, he would not have been put into shade by Jing Yichen and lose in front of him or not receive even a bit of fatherly love from Jing Zhongxiu.
Everything of the Jing Family belonged to Jing Yichen and he never got any properties or glory.
In the Jing Family, his position was poles apart from that of Jing Yichen’s. Everyone called Jing Yichen “Master” and only when the two of them were together, he was addressed as Elder Master. It sounded as if the Second Master didn’t exist.
Jing Yiran had thought that his life was a tragedy and that he had gone through a great deal of misery.
But compared to Lu, he had led a happy life!
He believed that Lu surely remembered her real name, but she just did not want to say it.
Her real name carried the miserable memories of her past and probably she would not want to be reminded of them.
He and Lu were people with no luck, and probably Lu cared about him because he had lived a terrible life, as well.
Jing Yiran suddenly pulled off the needle from the back of his hand, and stood up. He stumbled towards Lu and swept her into his arms.
She stiffened and wanted to push Jing Yiran away.
Jing Yiran, however, held her tightly and spoke in a low voice, “Stay still! Let me hold you in my arms for a little while. I am not taking advantage of you. I am just consoling you. When I am sad, you must hold me too and give me some warmth, okay?”
Lu did not reply, but she stopped pushing him away.
She was not used to this kind of behaviour, so she stood stiffly.
Jing Yiran continued speaking gently. “Relax, don’t be so nervous! I won’t eat you up. Lean your head against my chest, relax your arms. What is wrong with you? Why are your fists so tightly clenched? Stretch your hands and hold my waist...”
Lu could not stand it any more and pushed Jing Yiran away.
She used so much force that Jing Yiran fell backwards.
Fearing that he would hit his head, Lu stretched out her arms to stop his fall.
As a result, they ended up being in each other’s arms.
