Chapter 39 The Guild Is Ready

Two days passed.

Jake was not in the store though. He was outside in a giant field, looking at hundreds of guild members that stood in front of him.

After three days, two days more than what he expected, he was finally able to process the thousands of applications and pick the best of the best.

All of them were looking at each other, talking to each other. It was the first time that the whole guild had gathered together, so this was the first time that many met each other.

Forgetting the hundreds of gold coins that suddenly added to his expenses, managing this huge force was going to be a headache for Jake. But luckily, he was already prepared.

"Now then, you know that not everyone in the guild is equal. I am your guild leader, and the one next to me, Myriad Arrows, is your guild co-leader. Is that much clear?" Jake looked coldly at everyone who was looking at him.

He was wearing his rusty-looking boots and armor, and his sword wasn\'t all flattering either. Looking at this equipment, people wondered whether he was really the owner of the store that seemed to have all the equipment that they needed.

"Now then, this is a guild with more than three hundred members. Already, we are raising eyebrows. And yet, the average level of the guild is just eleven. For the next few weeks, all of you will be focusing on just grinding. All the loot that comes out of it will enter the guild pool, and will be properly distributed once your contribution is taken into account." Jake said.

"How are we going to count contribution?" one member asked, raising his hand.

"The guild contribution point system will start next month after we can start raiding, and start expeditions to new lands." Jake shook his head.

"Well then, only the leader and co-leader have been decided. That leaves the matter of the thirty group captains that I wish to appoint, as well as the three guild elders. Now, who wants to be a group captain?" Jake asked, smiling.

Immediately, the players started jumping restlessly. Getting a promotion meant more power and more money. Who wouldn\'t want those?

"But I just can\'t hand them over. You will have to earn them. In the next few days, I will be looking at your performance on the field. You will all be hunting the sword flies. They are quite troublesome, but you have the advantage of numbers. Split up into groups of around ten people. It doesn\'t matter if it is more than ten, but it can\'t be less than ten."

People started shuffling around, finding people that they have met before, or already knew. If their group was filled with people they already knew, then whoever was the group captain would not treat them unfairly.

Once the groups were formed, Jake nodded and lifted his hand, silencing the crowd.

"Don\'t enter another group\'s territory. Don\'t fight amongst yourself. If you find a precious drop and think that it is better if you hide it from me, then just remember. Contribution points can be exchanged not only for coins but also for rare items.

And then there\'s the contract, the one where if you disobey, I can sue you for all you\'re worth. Well then, let us see who will level up the most. Split apart.

I have already put the different areas in the chat. All of them are the same, so if there are any territorial disputes, then it isn\'t going to smell good for any of you." Jake said.

He then looked on as the groups started taking one territory each, splitting up and taking the entire silversword fields in their control.

This was now the territory of the Bright Horizon guild.

Jake chose this place because most of the players within Diffast were archers, and although they would be able to hunt in the silversword fields, it would be very limited compared to the other grinding field on the opposite side of the city.

This place was sparse, and nobody wanted to touch a guild that had three hundred members. For a guild at a time this early, it was a huge guild.

"Are you really going to stay here and waste the day looking at these noobs battle it out? You can level up instead. It isn\'t like your levels are any good." Myriad Arrows stood by Jake\'s side, musing.

"You are right. I am not going to be staying here looking at these idiots make a fool of themselves. It will be a while until they can learn how to fight with each other and coordinate. I have to go back to the store and check a few things before both of us will go take a nice trip somewhere." Jake smiled.

"Where are we going?" Myriad Arrows asked, frowning. Right now, Jake was the most mysterious person in Myriad Arrows\' life. Whatever he said felt dangerous.

"Don\'t worry. It will be a nice place. We can level up much faster than this place. What good will sword flies do to our exp anymore?" Jake chuckled and took out an item from his inventory.

This was something that he bought from a store that wasn\'t his. It was an item, but not from this world. Instead, it was just a normal camera.

Jake intended to just record all of this and run it back in a time-lapse so that he could see anything interesting that happened after the fact.

"Let us go now. I am pretty sure that this person doesn\'t like to be kept waiting." Jake said as he walked towards the city gates.

"Wait, which person? Who are you going to meet?" Myriad Arrows ran after Jake.

"That, my dear Myriad Arrows, is going to be a nice surprise." Jake\'s wide smile gave Myriad Arrows shivers.
